چکیده

Linear tense logics are widely accepted for structural temporal representation, where the basic has two modal operators G and H, each of which represents the future and the past, respectively. On the other hand, the temporal interval relations arranged by Allen have long been the standard of natural language semantics, though it still lacks the modal-logical foundation. Van Benthem [10] proposed and in regard to the accessibility to overlapping intervals and subintervals, respectively; however, the logical feature of the modality has not well studied. In this study, we propose a manydimensional logic including the conventional tense logic, together with such interval accessibility, and show its decidability. Keywords— decidability, many-dimensional modal logic, sequent system, temporal logic.

Introducing Temporal Description Logics

Description Logics are formalisms designed for a logical reconstruction of representation tools such as frames, Object-Oriented and semantic data models, semantic networks, type systems, and feature logics. Nowadays, description logics are also considered the most important unifying formalism for the many object-centred representation languages used in areas other than Knowledge Representation....

Frank Wolter DECIDABILITY OF TENSE LOGICS

transitivity = 2p → 22p, and the axioms for linearity .3 fomulated for both 2 and 2−. Here we call normal extensions of Lin.t simply tense logics. There is a sequence of papers on uni-modal logics of weak orderings. Probably the first one is the famous result of R. Bull [1] that all extensions of S4.3 have the fmp. Then K. Fine [3] proved that all extensions of K4.3 are complete, and recently M...

The Computational Complexity of Hybrid Temporal Logics

In their simplest form, hybrid languages are propositional modal languages which can refer to states. They were introduced by Arthur Prior, the inventor of tense logic, and played an important role in his work: because they make reference to specific times possible, they remove the most serious obstacle to developing modal approaches to temporal representation and reasoning. However very little...

A Minimal Hybrid Logic for Intervals

Taking our inspiration from van Benthem’s treatment of temporal interval structures, and Halpern and Shoham’s work on intervals, we introduce an interval hybrid temporal logic with two binary relations, precedence and inclusion, for talking about interval temporal structures. This paper can be seen as an continuation of the work began in an earlier paper, in which we undertook a purely modal tr...

A Mechanisation of Classical Modal Tense Logics Using Isabelle

We present an implementation of an interactive theorem prover for the basic tense logic Kt, and many of its extensions, using the generic proof assistant Isabelle. The novelty of the implementation is that we use a Display Logic formalism of Kt as opposed to a traditional Gentzen system. The prover is intended to assist in meta-theoretical studies of tense logics rather than to be a fast theore...
